Itinerary

1. Marrakech - Doors of The Atlas

Your private driver will pick you up from your accommodation so you can then start your journey to The Ourika Valley. Your first stop will be to visit the Berber, or Amazigh, villages and immerse yourself in their unique culture and lifestyle. These traditional communities offer a glimpse into the centuries-old ways of life of the indigenous Moroccan people. As you explore the villages, you’ll have the chance to admire their distinctive architecture, observe local artisans at work, and perhaps even coincide your visit with the weekly souk (market) on Mondays or Thursdays, where you can browse the vibrant open-air market and interact with the local vendors.

2. Women's Argan Cooperative (optional)

Your next stop, which is optional, is the Women’s Argan Cooperative. Here, you’ll learn about the sustainable harvesting and processing of argan nuts, a valuable resource native to Morocco, and the cooperative’s important role in empowering local women through this traditional industry. (This visit is an encouragement to these women.)

3. The Berber House

The third stop on your itinerary is a Berber house, where you’ll have the opportunity to tour a traditional family home and gain insights into the domestic life and cultural traditions of the Berber people. The interior design and other elements of the home will provide a deeper understanding of their way of living.

4. The Hike: Setti Fadma

Once you arrive in Setti Fadma, you’ll meet your local guide and embark on a 1-hour hike to reach the stunning waterfalls in the area. After the hike, you’ll have 1 hour of free time to enjoy a delicious local lunch by the Ourika River and admire the vibrant and picturesque natural landscape surrounding you.

5. Marrakech

At the end of this unforgettable day, you’ll be ready to return to Marrakech, having immersed yourself in the rich cultural heritage and breathtaking natural beauty of the Berber region.

What a fun and relaxing day! The guide made everything so enjoyable, and we had an amazing time by the river. The tajine and couscous were the best we’ve had in Morocco. Marrakech Nomads made sure we had a great time – we can’t wait to do it again!

Our guide was a really nice guy, his family were Berbers so was passionate when explaining about the Berber way of life, customs, language, etc. The climb up to the waterfall is quite challenging (for a 68 year old) but you get a sense of achievement and satisfaction having done it. The meal in the restaurant down in the Ourika Valley after the waterfall was traditional and very good, there was more European options if you wanted. The delight was dipping your feet in the cooling stream / river running through the middle of the restaurant.
